About Calendar

The Laszlo Calendar application has three main panels:

Calendar List Panel

You can manage and navigate through your calendars via the Calendar List panel. Calendars provide a convenient way to organize, schedule and keep track of your schedule. You can easily create and name multiple calendars and display or hide each of them from the Calendar View panel through the checkbox indicator. You can delete calendars or publish them to share with family, friends and co-workers. You can also view other published calendars by subscribing to them.

List of Calendars

This list includes your calendars and calendars subscribed from the Web.

Events within the calendars selected by checkbox will appear in the day, week and month views in the Calendar View panel. Each calendar is represented by a different color and its events will be displayed in the same color.

The icon to the right indicates if a calendar is subscribed from an external source, or being published.

Any calendar can be renamed by double-clicking on it.

Creating Calendars

To create a new calendar, click the plus icon button in the upper left of the Calendar List panel.

Calendar Colors

Calendars are assigned a random color when created.

Subscribing to a Calendar

To subscribe to a calendar, click the subscribe "Down arrow" button and enter the URL for the calendar feed.

Subscribed calendars are read only, although you may rename the item to display an alternate name in the calendar list.

Sharing a Calendar

To share calendars with co-workers, family and friends select a calendar and click the subscribe "Up arrow" button to publish the calendar feed URL. This URL can be shared with friends who want to subscribe to this feed.

Deleting Calendars

To delete a calendar, click the minus button. Please note deleting calendars is a permanent action and is not recoverable.

Mini-Cal Navigation

Mini-cal provides a fast way to jump to a specific day. Click on any day in the mini-cal to view that day in the Calendar View panel.

It will not change the selected view (day/week/month). Navigate back and forth between the months using the arrow buttons.

You can choose to display or hide mini-Cal by clicking on the mini-cal button in the upper left corner.

Maximizing and Minimizing the Calendar List Panel

By default, the Calendar List panel is minimized to give the Calendar View more space.

The Calendar list panel can be opened by clicking the expand button located in the upper left.

To minimize the Calendar List panel, click the minimize button located in the upper right Calendar List panel.

Calendar View Panel

The calendar view panel displays all events by Day, Week or Month view. You can add, delete or move events. You can navigate forward or back within the view.

By default, events are displayed in the Day view.


Day view

Day View

Events in the calendars selected (in the Calendar List panel) will be displayed for the day selected.

By default, the daily view is narrower to give other Webtop applications more room. However, the Calendar window can be resized by dragging on the Expand Day icon in the lower-right corner.

All events for the day will be displayed. For example, the calendar will automatically rescale t he timeline to make an early morning event visible.

Users can click on the info icon or double-click on any event to view more details.


Week View

Events in the selected calendars (in the Calendar List panel) will be displayed for the selected week.

By default, the week view is wider to show more details for the week. However, the Calendar window can be resized by dragging on the Expand Day icon in the lower-right corner.

All events for the week will be displayed. For example, the calendar will automatically rescale the timeline to make an early morning events in that week visible. One day in the week view will be expanded for easier reading of the event titles.

Users can click on the info button or double-click on any event to view more details.


Month view

month view

Events in the calendars selected (in the Calendar List panel) will be displayed for the selected month.

By default, the month view is wider to show more detail for the month. However, the Calendar window can be resized by dragging on the Expand Day button in the lower-right corner.

Due to the space constraints, not all events on a day may be displayed.

Users can click on the info button or double-click on any visible event to view more details.

You can navigate between day, week and month calendar views by clicking on these buttons in the upper right bar. To navigate backwards and forwards in the view click the left and right arrow buttons.

Event Details Panel

Event Detail

This panel displays details on a single event, including event title, start and end time, location, recurrence and description. Normally this panel is closed and can be activated by double-clicking on an event or clicking the info icon on an event. You can edit or delete an event from this panel.

This panel has two modes: View Mode and Edit Mode.

From View mode, click the Edit button to enter Edit Mode.

From Edit mode, click the Save or Cancel buttons to return to View Mode.

To close the Events Detail panel, click the Close button.


View Mode

Event Detail

In View mode, only the applicable data fields for an event will be displayed. If the event is not recurring, the 'repeat' and 'end' fields would not be displayed.


Edit Mode

Event Detail

In Edit mode, all available data and options are made visible. For example, this event is set to recur weekly but only from 5am to 6am. The option to make this event ‘All Day’ is available.

Any of the fields can be edited.

To return to the View Mode, users can click the save or cancel buttons.


Delete Event

From either View or Edit modes, delete an event by clicking the Delete button. Please note deleting events is a permanent action and is not recoverable.

Managing Events

Creating Events

To create events in the Calendar View panel:

All Day Events

All-day events do not have a start nor end time. Users can define an all day event by selecting the checkbox in the Details panel in Edit mode. all day

Multi-Day Events

A single event can span multiple days. You can set an end-date for an event in the Details panel in Edit mode.

Recurring Events

An event can be set to recur daily, weekly, monthly or yearly. You can set the recurrence frequency in the Details panel in Edit mode.


By default, events recurrence will never end. You can select to end it after a number of recurrences or on a specific date.

Which Calendar?

By default, new events will be assigned to the calendar selected on the Calendar List panel. You can change the assigned calendar in the Events Detail panel in Edit mode.

Alerts

You can set alerts to events in the Event Details panel. Alerts appear centered over the desktop. Close an Alert by clicking the OK button.

Event Notes

You can add or edit notes for an event in the Event Detail panel in Edit mode.
