Overview of Webtop

Laszlo Webtop is an online desktop that allows you to communicate and collaborate, no matter where you are or what browser you're using. The service combines multiple applications that are designed to seamlessly interact with one another, creating a consistent user experience.

Webtop is an integrated online personal information, messaging and communication center that includes integrated Email, Calendar and Contacts. Note that you can easily dock a window or move the location of a window on your screen by simply dragging and dropping to a new location. The default is for Calendar and Mail to be open and Contacts to be docked. Simply click on the Contacts button in the header to undock.

SmartObjects™

Webtop supports the concept of a SmartObject, which allows you to share content between Webtop applications and quickly complete tasks that span multiple applications. Based on industry standards like ICS for calendars and VCF for Contacts, you can drag a contact or calendar event into an email and send it to another user, where it can be copied into another calendar or address book that supports those standards. This also allows you to add these to the contacts or calendar Webtop applications even if they were sent from some other platform.

Resizing and Navigation

Resizing Webtop Windows

Resizing the browser window will provide more room for your webtop applications.

Resizable Panels

To increase or decrease the size of a panel, click on the bar that separates it from its neighbor and adjust the size using the mouse. The size will remain as you set it until you resize again.

Persistent Window State

For your convenience, Webtop will remember the position, size, docked state and maximized state as you set it in the last session, for the main application windows. The main mail window will save the position of the two grippers, the open/close state of the preview panel, the open/close state of the message header within the preview panel, the open/close state of the search box and the state of the message grid.

Keyboard Navigation

You can navigate through the application using the mouse or by using the keyboard:
